I disagree with Edward De Bono who says God cannot have a sense of humour since humour is based on surprise. While surprise is a factor, so is delight, and so it’s a good thing I’m convinced God does indeed have a sense of humour or I’d be wriggling in at the irreverence of how Rod says grace from time to time.
Tonight I think Miss 6 owned the only set of eyes that stayed closed during the saying of grace where Rod thanked God for this special birthday since we were only giving her one every three years from now on. I sneaked a peek at her to see how she was managing this news to see a flicker of puzzlement, then a tiny smile of understanding of the joke, and then several other sets of eyes all doing the same as me.
