I am but clay

Not everything that we don’t get right is about sin or pride. Sometimes it’s just that we’re not God. Sometimes it’s that ‘we are but clay’.

There is plenty God can do that we can not.

There is a place of rest to be found when we see the difference.

I am not everywhere at all times with all knowledge, all wisdom and all power.

Not excuse making. Just resting in the process of releasing the reliance on my own understanding – turning my thoughts, my face, my direction – more into relying on His.

Law vs Freedom – do not withold yourselves!

Marriage-purity-sex-family are all topics close to my heart and ones on which I’ve spent much time so when I read the Scriptures I’m always on the lookout for deeper understandings on these topics. I’ve read way too many books on these topics and in amongst them I have read a number of Christian teachers say that a wife should never withhold herself from sex and I have seen women damaged and part-way to deranged from their efforts to live out such teaching.

Prophetic spotlight

*Every Friday afternoon I dash about madly trying to get ready for the weekend and trying to get the weeks washing hung before dinner time. On Friday afternoons I find myself thinking on the Jewish women of old, and the Jewish women of today who still live this way – all busily preparing for the Sabbath, getting all the work done by sundown the end of the 6th day, bringing in the 7th, the day of rest till sundown 24 hours later.

Reframe

What if… instead of looking at the Old Testament law as a list of do’s and don’ts, we looked behind the instructions to what they showed us of Who God Is? What if we looked for His heart, His requirements, His provisions FIRST?
