“TIMES 12 CLUB” JULY focus

The “Times Twelve club” is a collective of people reading the chapter of Proverbs that corresponds to that days date – thereby reading the whole book 12 times in the year with a suggested ‘focus lens’ to read through to squash thoughts of familiarity making it an already ‘known’ book – starting 1st of every month. Would you like to join in with others doing just that?

Scripture is absolutely peppered with metaphors- as is the way that we speak, so much so that we hardly even notice them in conversation… but we can also miss them for other reasons. If you didn’t know what pepper was, you would completely miss the metaphor in this paragraph.

The Proverbs Ch 8 Key

One winters day a long time ago, six children and their mum went for a walk like none before.

This walk saw children excitedly crisscrossing road and path, bending over stems and flowers, calling out to one another “look at this one! It’s a spiral!”, “look at this one! It’s an opposite!”, “look at this lily! It’s one and one!”

The conversation just before the walk had been their mother sharing from a book where she’d read that the leaves of every stem either grew opposite one another… or in such a way that a spiral around the stem could be traced from one leaf to the next and the next.

There was no random.

“That” woman!

The woman described in Proverbs 31 brings anything and everything between motivation and interest to sighs and groans of loathing. This will depend on the age and season of the woman and her experience of marriage and family – but mainly it will depend on the way she has perceived the passage to have been taught. This little offering of mine is to share some thoughts as I see the chapter in question…
