Someday I would love to do impromptu ‘open house’ evenings where I just pop up a note saying “tonight I’m making churros (… or chilli… or whatever) come if you can” – play some music and enjoy whoever turns up. There’s some problems with that of course, like quantities and diets, and a dozen other things but it’s something I love the idea of regardless.

The slightly disconcerting thing about the graphic above is that I wrote that story at about age 6, and all but the last page of it has come to be – and in the order it is written. Now perhaps theres some prophetic license being entered into here but this little story has long caused mirth in our family. It was first read out at my 21st – married then for 18 months and no kids in sight for a while – all those babies were ficticious hilarity but even then it was noted that I had indeed:

My Nanna was pretty unique.
She’s been gone a good long while but I had cause to think of her today.
I went to help a friend with something this morning. It took a bit of time but the thing itself wasn’t a big deal to me because it was dealing with stuff I understood. For her though, she’d got into a muddle and a slump and couldn’t see her way through.
I felt like that recently when future SIL rescued me from a techno problem which had me ready to scream, but which was second nature to him. 🙂
