Understanding someone else’s opinion doesn’t mean we have to agree with it. Seeking to see something through someone else’s eyes doesn’t necessarily render our own perspective false.
I think sometimes we are afraid to try to understand… afraid to try and see through someone else’s eyes and experience in case it makes us weak.
Or makes us look weak. Or as though by listening we’re obligated somehow. But what if we learn something?
And what if by listening – we enable the other to hear our story too…
