So Gabriel went to the little country town in a hilltop far far from Jerusalem to see young Mary and he greeted her with fancy words. Mary was a suspicious sort so she narrowed her eyes and looked at this messenger of light with crossed arms and a fair degree of sass.
At Christmas: Who you say I am
I once planted a garden with some floaty ideas of what I might like to do there when it was fully formed. I didn’t have a timeline or finish date… I never quiiiiiiite finished and I’ve never done any of the ideas i first imagined in that lovely little space that is now falling down and is beyond my capacity to repair.

Jesus was wrapped and laid down two times – once each at the book-ends of His physical time earthside.
They wrapped Him in swaddling clothes and laid Him in a manger.
They wrapped Him in linen cloths and laid him in a tomb.

What do you see in this picture? It isn’t my style and wouldn’t have caught a second glance from me except for its title and secondly, for the expression on each of the faces. Each of these things pulled me deeper in.

Did anyone celebrate Christmas today?
Until about two minutes ago – I had never ever wondered about the word ‘nativity’. I was looking at the Calendar of Days below and saw that today is “Epiphany” or “Twelfth Night” – and since I didn’t really know what they were, looked them up and found myself wondering about “nativity’ as well. It’s a word that’s become such a part of Christmas I’d never thought about it having a meaning separate to that.

An idea I’ve not actually done with Teen Team at church was to ask them each to bring a collection of items that represent themselves, their personalities, attributes, interests. The kinds of things they’d want their children and grandchildren to know were important about them.
