I am but clay

Not everything that we don’t get right is about sin or pride. Sometimes it’s just that we’re not God. Sometimes it’s that ‘we are but clay’.

There is plenty God can do that we can not.

There is a place of rest to be found when we see the difference.

I am not everywhere at all times with all knowledge, all wisdom and all power.

Not excuse making. Just resting in the process of releasing the reliance on my own understanding – turning my thoughts, my face, my direction – more into relying on His.

Table Travellers – Week 6

*Shalom! שלום

Taryn writes: Over the last few days we read the book of Esther because we knew that Thursday this week is the celebration of Purim. The Jewish calendar is different to ours but the Bible does sometimes give us dates of certain events which can be figured out! Purim which is when God helped Queen Esther free her people from Haman’s evil plan to wipe out all the Jews. Esther is one of my favourite books of the Bible because her bravery is so inspiring!

Table Travellers – Week 5

With love from Taryn…

Hello. This week in Table Travellers we made Cornbread and Homemade BBQ Baked Beans. They ate it with Chilli so we made Baked Beans instead since we didn’t have all the ingredients for Chilli and Mum didn’t have time to get to the shops today.

How can I sing in this situation?

Sometimes reining my head in to focus during worship is really hard. I often feel like I’ve only just got my mind off me and my eyes onto Jesus when it’s time to sit back down. What a waste. Sometimes it’s the busyness of the day or week that is in my own way, sometimes my mind is stuck in problems in need of solutions or sorrows that weigh me down. Whatever the reason – they result in distraction – and is something I purpose to conquor deliberately instead of passively waiting for the music to take me there.

The Winter Project – Prelude

Summer has just turned the page; autumn is a lovely read – but the march of winter cometh and it depresseth me. ‘The Winter Project’ is at attempt to learn and incorporate the ideas of winter lovers, or those with experience of much harsher conditions into my own home and outlook. Some friends sent me ideas last winter, and the year before – such simple ideas can make such a difference. The favourite ideas so far revolve around fairy lights and scented candles. And so – the preparations begin. If you have ideas for me – please send them!

“That” woman!

The woman described in Proverbs 31 brings anything and everything between motivation and interest to sighs and groans of loathing. This will depend on the age and season of the woman and her experience of marriage and family – but mainly it will depend on the way she has perceived the passage to have been taught. This little offering of mine is to share some thoughts as I see the chapter in question…
