I have an inner Pinterest for clothes and crafts which was greatly aided by our days in Paris last July. Here is a list of 20 French fashion matters of notice though not of any great consequence (Miranda Priestly would slay me for that [and much more besides])
Among much else I saw:
- lots of linen – women and men
- fabrics associated with evening wear being worn in the day… satin… gold…
- men wearing bright coloured trousers
- men’s and women’s trousers folded to just on or above the ankle
- statement coloured shoes with black clothing (including the folded trousers)
- men in general wearing great shoes – hardly any sneakers even for casual
- lots of wide leg trousers (women)
- almost all men’s trousers tapered leg
- pleated skirts and culottes
- women’s pants slightly loose and worn often belted just below the waist. Usually with shirt either fully tucked in or just tucked at the front.
- not a single low rise pant/jean in sight.
- trouser heights for women all either waisted or only slightly lower or slightly higher
- only two berets sighted and they were almost a sure bet being worn by tourists:-)
- jeans made with panels of different toned denim
- jeans with different hem lengths front and back
- lots of blue suits worn with brown shoes and belts for men.
- shoes, even with work wear, worn without socks for men
- long flowy waisted dresses
- any kind of shoe for women worn with any kind of outfit. Sneakers or chunky flats with dresses, stilettos with ankle length trousers etc
- mustard yellow sighted and light dusty pink (nude) in proliferation
That’s all I can remember for now. No high fashion on the streets – more like trends that will filter through.
Such fun to have been there to see it all!
