Paris in the summer – clothes

I have an inner Pinterest for clothes and crafts which was greatly aided by our days in Paris last July. Here is a list of 20 French fashion matters of notice though not of any great consequence (Miranda Priestly would slay me for that [and much more besides])

Among much else I saw:

  1. lots of linen – women and men
  2. fabrics associated with evening wear being worn in the day… satin… gold…
  3. men wearing bright coloured trousers
  4. men’s and women’s trousers folded to just on or above the ankle
  5. statement coloured shoes with black clothing (including the folded trousers)
  6. men in general wearing great shoes – hardly any sneakers even for casual
  7. lots of wide leg trousers (women)
  8. almost all men’s trousers tapered leg
  9. pleated skirts and culottes
  10. women’s pants slightly loose and worn often belted just below the waist. Usually with shirt either fully tucked in or just tucked at the front.
  11. not a single low rise pant/jean in sight.
  12. trouser heights for women all either waisted or only slightly lower or slightly higher
  13. only two berets sighted and they were almost a sure bet being worn by tourists:-)
  14. jeans made with panels of different toned denim
  15. jeans with different hem lengths front and back
  16. lots of blue suits worn with brown shoes and belts for men.
  17. shoes, even with work wear, worn without socks for men
  18. long flowy waisted dresses
  19. any kind of shoe for women worn with any kind of outfit. Sneakers or chunky flats with dresses, stilettos with ankle length trousers etc
  20. mustard yellow sighted and light dusty pink (nude) in proliferation

That’s all I can remember for now. No high fashion on the streets – more like trends that will filter through.

Such fun to have been there to see it all!
