Older folk I admire

Another older couple I’ve spent time with were married a relatively short time considering their ages. They’d both been married before but had known so very much loss that at no point ever in the time I was with them did they look at each other with anything but sheer adoration.

They both saw each other as a gift right from heaven. Someone who restored them. Someone to heal beside. Someone to be cherished, every moment of every day. Twelve years or so they had, until he passed away.

Twelve years seems long when you’re in your twenties. Not so much when you’re nearing 80.
