When a verse ‘comes alive’

Last spring I cleared a section of garden where a vine had overtaken an old swing frame. It was super pretty in its overgrown state but entirely unusable and the years for baby swings have passed on by.

It took a half day to hack away at those vines which, having had free reign for a decade were thick, entwined and twisted in every place they could take hold. One section I remember reminded me of an old western movie lasso- a couple of meters long, twisted near perfect as a rope, each part thicker than my thumb. That vine had separated the wooden planked swing roof sending it tumbling once the vine stranglehold was removed and would have continued to grow in strength and damage had it not been chopped off from the root that fed it.

Another time when clearing ivy from a rock wall I had a go at weaving baskets with the pliable vine. I knew they weren’t going to be amazing but as they dried over the next few weeks the weave became entirely useless so into the bin they went.

Every time The Breath of Life comes into us through His Words, it/He then can breathe into other related places that were affected by the absence of His breath… after each ‘aha’ the cords loosen in other places waiting renewal and one day those dried up vines (now disconnected from the misbeliefs or untruths that fed them) will fall away.

The absolute beauty of continuing to read after such a Breath is not only that specific understanding but the others it will lead to.

That same verse will now always be alive in this way but can also breathe from a different angle for a different purpose the next time you come round to it because of what else He will show you between now and then and because He is

Limitless.

Hold the way He spoke close and dear and wait to see what else He’ll do as well, beyond and because of that moment!
