Evening friends

Over the years I have mostly dreaded going along to work functions. First as a shy young wife, then as the much younger wife of a new director and then as the wife not of the same ethnicity as the rest of the wives being the only one who didn’t get her shoes and jewellery made at the same places. Haven’t had many work do’s of late… tho this group has been the easiest I’ve ever spent time with…

Probably the function I remember with the most good feeling is the one where I chatted with another wife, probably also feeling out of her comfort zone… who was Hindu. Of all work do’s this was the only one where a conversation went deeper than shoes or occupations or holidays or children.
Neither of us tried to convert the other but we found common ground talking about poverty and children in overseas orphanages and how we personally cared and/or helped.

It was a memorable thing that two people so different could so easily find commonality.

Nice.
